Sciatica is described as a persistent pain running down the back of the leg. The sciatic nerve is the longest and thickest nerve in the human body. This nerve first comes off of the spinal cord in the low back and runs down the back of both legs. While sciatic pain is usually found in one of the legs, the problem is usually in the low back. The pain is often described as burning and is typically worse with sitting. Chiropractic helps to restore function to the low back through specific adjustments coupled with therapies aimed at decreasing the irritation on the spinal nerves.
